Architectural Essential Features: An Outlook for 2024’s Hot Must-Haves

With homeowner expectations changing over time, architects Manchester must align their focus to meet the demand when designing new homes. Priorities shift, but some trends seem to be on the rise, and the team at Cheadle Architects has been keeping track of the most desired features for new build homes will be in 2024.

Energy Efficiency

Added focus on environmental impact is pretty much shaping every facet of life in the 2020s, including in each area of home design. Buyers want to see sustainability reflected in their homes.

That calls for features such as insulation, renewable energy sources, and double glazing expected as standard. Elements such as solar panels and EV charging will soon become essential features as the world moves towards eliminating carbon emissions, and homeowners do their part in eliminating fossil fuel consumption. Future-proofing a home means preparing for what the next decade will bring, and it points to a future that is all green.

Open Plan Living

Homeowners are always seeking light open spaces in their homes, but today they are beginning to want more flexible elements that allow for an open plan base.

A desire to be able to close off certain sections when needed is something that has come along since the pandemic forced many people into working from home, being able to create separate spaces to work and live and be a family. That is a trend that has stayed with many home builds moving forward and will play a role in 2024’s trends.

Storage

Stockport architects are finding that they have to come up with more and more strokes of ingenuity when it comes to storage and maximizing space. Families at home a lot more are finding more and more ways to fill the space in rapid order.

With new builds for 2024, storage space will be a big thing, with homeowners expecting there to be plenty of space to store their things. That includes walk-in wardrobes and loft conversions to make the most out of dead space, with intricate storage solutions that have a lot of thought for current storage and what will be needed in the future.

Additional Living Space

Luxury at home has never seen more importance than the 2020s has created, with families choosing to spend more time indoors together instead of spending a lot of money by venturing out.

Many homes now desire a home cinema room or gym conversion, a games room, or whatever they can get indoors that would cost a lot of money out in the world. With cinemas getting ridiculously expensive and streaming being the way people watch their movies today, it calls for a home cinema room that can be dedicated to film, TV, music, and gaming.

At Cheadle Architects, we provide commercial and domestic architectural services across the Northwest, and we have our eye on the future of new builds, home renovation, and home repurposing to be in line with the new demands of family living. TESTIMONIALS

Now nearing completion, I thought this an opportune time to write a testimonial for Stelios from Cheadle Architects.

Liz and I always dreamt of that showroom quality, bright white open plan kitchen diner … the kind you see on TV and not in your own house, but where do you start? … The answer is simple, find someone who shares your vision, grabs it by both hands and not only delivers the goods, but improves on your ideas 10-fold! – Stelios was that person.

From the moment we discussed our ideas you could tell his creative cogs where turning… Not only did he provide us with 1 option, but 3!!! … each detailed to a high level. We would have never thought of squeezing in a utility room with its own external access, let alone removing the whole ground floor wall of the house and stepping back into the existing property nearly 2m.

Stelios organised all the necessary civils, building regs etc and delivered professionally whilst working to a tight timeline so the builders could start without delay.

Stelios – You did a great job and worked long hours to get this sorted for us… So… something I think I be repeating a lot … word of mouth goes along way… and I certainly will not be shy in telling everyone who asks who designed our wonderful extension…. “Stelios from Cheadle Architects did!”.

We had met with three architects prior to meeting Stelios. This meant that we really knew what could be achieved and how professionals behaved in our property.
From the start, Stelios blew us away. He was thorough, honest and listened carefully to all we both required from our home. He didn’t make wild promises but worked logically through all the options explaining every step.
By the end, we had a very clear and wonderful design really taking into account all our likes and wants for the build. He made changes in a very short period of time whenever we thought of something new and helped us visualise stages if we were ever unsure. And our builders were more than happy to have drawings in front of them which gave us confidence we were all on the same page.
Stelios went above and beyond connecting us with a structural engineer, and visiting the build site several times – just out of interest and enthusiasm – offering invaluable suggestions and advice which ultimately helped us achieve the family home we dreamt of.
It was an absolute pleasure dealing with Stelios and we couldn’t recommend highly enough. Thank you, Stelios!
